Obituary of Margaret Saunders

Life Legacy Surrounded by loving family, Margaret Victoria Saunders passed peacefully on Friday, September 6, 2019 at her home in Lincoln, NB. Born in Fredericton, NB on September 9, 1932 she was the only child of the late Charles and Jennie (DeSaulniers) Saunders. Margaret studied Music at Kings College, Dalhousie University and was a professional Organist and Choir Director at a variety of Fredericton churches, spending the last 30 years of her career with St. John the Evangelist Anglican Church. Many children and adults received music lessons in piano and organ over those years. She was a member of the Fredericton Music Society for many years as well. She was a licensed parochial lay-reader and felt very privileged to participate in hospital work for both the Sunday morning services and parish visitation. Margaret enjoyed time spent with family and friends. Since moving in with family in Lincoln, she found delight in having visitors come to “her door” to see her. Margaret was a member of St. John the Evangelist Anglican Church in Fredericton. Margaret is survived by daughters, Susan Nash (Gordon “Nut”) of Durham Bridge, NB, Jane Stafford (Tom) of Lincoln, NB; sons, John Ridley (Julie) of Richibucto Road, NB, James “Jim” Ridley of Lincoln, NB; sons-in-law, John Royale of Guelph, ON, Wendell Claybourne of Fredericton, NB; grandchildren, Lynn Morehouse (Richard), Joseph Claybourne, Mark Claybourne, Matthew Royale (Sara), Ashley Royale (Thijs), Michael Ridley, Melissa Ridley (Corey), Christina Meade, Jeffrey Meade, Naomi Nash (Calvin), Jenna Nash (Erduan), Bronson Nash and Mikayla McCoy (Matt); several great-grandchildren. Besides her parents, Margaret was predeceased by daughters, Anne Claybourne, Mary Royale; son, Charlie Ridley; granddaughters, Melissa and Amanda Royale; great-grandson, Logan. Visitation will take place at York Funeral Home, 302 Brookside Drive, Fredericton on Wednesday, September 11, 2019 from 2-4 and 6-8 pm. A Funeral Service will be held at St. John the Evangelist Anglican Church, Fredericton on Thursday, September 12, 2019 at 1 pm with Rev. John Galbraith officiating. Interment will be in the Fredericton Rural Cemetery Extension. Pallbearers are John Ridley, Jim Ridley, Joseph Claybourne, Mark Claybourne, Michael Ridley and Bronson Nash.
