Obituary of Allison Staples
It is with heavy hearts that the family of Allison F. Staples announces his passing on August 3, 2019 at his home in Burtts Corner, New Brunswick. Born on September 28, 1936, in Sisson Settlement, a farming community just outside of Burtts Corner, he was the eldest son of Anson Brewer Staples and Teresa Pauline (Crouse) Staples. In 1942 he began his long connection with New Brunswick education by entering grade one at the small one room schoolhouse in Sisson Settlement. He would be the only student in his grade for the next eight years. His first teacher was Marjorie Estey. His grade eight teacher was Bernice Foster, whom he always credited with preparing him for high school. His high school for the first year (1950-1951), was located at the Forester's Hall in Burtts Corner. By the end of grade ten it would be the brand new Keswick Valley Memorial High School from which he would graduate in June of 1954, as a member of the very first graduating class of KVMHS.
Allison graduated from the New Brunswick Teachers College, and from the University of New Brunswick. He taught at Centreville Intermediate School, The Allen School, Harold Peterson Jr. High School. He taught at Keswick Valley Memorial School, from 1969 until his retirement in 1991. In his retirement, he enjoyed studying and teaching the Bible, spending time with his grandchildren and great grandchildren, volunteering on a number of local committees, painting, and spending time with his wife Lillian. In 2017, he was the Honorary Parade Marshall for Keswick Valley Summerfest, in recognition of his many decades of service to the community.
Allison is survived by his loving wife of sixty three years, Lillian (Conley) Staples, sons A. Geoffrey Staples (Rose), Rodney T. Staples and daughter, Karen L. Williams (Mark), grandsons Nathan Staples (Katrina), Jordan Staples(Kayla) and Logan Staples; granddaughters Amanda Collicott (Eric), Leah Merrill (Phillip) and Paige Staples; ten great-grandchildren Caleb Staples, Kyle Staples, Colin Staples, Isabelle Merrill, Benjamin Merrill, Winrey Staples, William Staples, Jack Staples, Archer Staples and Finn Staples; brothers Winston (Donna) and Lowell (Shirley); sisters-in-law Ida Pugh and Audrey Pugh; brother-in-law Medford E. (Sonny) Conley (Elaine), and Gwen Prime (mother of Logan and Paige), as well as several nieces, nephews and cousins. Besides his parents, Allison is predeceased by brothers-in-law, Joseph K Pugh, and Cedric A. Pugh and by his friend of many years, Jerry Hawkes.
The family would like to express their gratitude to Dr. Achla Pond, Dr. Yuri Luntao, Dr. Gordon MacDonald, the nurses from Extra Mural and Glen Jackson and the pharmacy staff of Shoppers Drug Mart, Main Street, Fredericton.
