Obituary of Joan Snyder
The passing of Joan Elizabeth Snyder of Moncton, NB, wife of Louis Snyder occurred on Wednesday, July 31, 2019 at the Georges Dumont Hospital, Moncton, NB. Born on June 21, 1955 in Middleton, NS, she was the dearly-loved daughter of John MacDonald and the late Doris (Whitney) MacDonald.
Joan was an especially kind woman dedicated to helping others become their best selves. Her work as a Sunday school teacher, Girl Guide leader, and Educational Assistant for special needs students at New Minas Elementary was impactful. Joan’s wise words and gentle actions will be fondly remembered by the many parents and children her life so quietly touched.
As a mother, Joan was unsurpassed. Her love and guidance was constant, as seen in the steady achievements in sports, academics and careers of her beloved daughters and son, and was an inspiration to others.
In addition to her husband, Joan is survived by her daughters, Anna-Leigh Snyder (Dorion) of Keswick Ridge, NB, and Jane Snyder (Mark) of Ingolstadt, Germany; son, Scott Snyder (Jullie) of Beverley, Mass; grandchildren, Emmett and Megan; sisters, Jennifer MacDonald (Mark) of Amherst, Mass and Jessica VanLuxemborg (Pat) of Kentville, NS; many nieces and nephews.
Visitation will take place at York Funeral Home, 302 Brookside Drive on Monday, August 5, 2019 from 1-2 pm; followed by the Memorial Service at York Funeral Home’s T. Gordon MacLeod Memorial Chapel at 2 pm with Pastor Normand McDonald officiating. Interment will take place at St. Anthony’s Roman Catholic Cemetery.
