Obituary of F. Bruce Oliver

Life Legacy Frederick Bruce Oliver passed away peacefully July 12, 2019, in Fredericton, NB, surrounded by family. Bruce was born in 1954 in Arvida, QC to Frederick Stephen and Ruth (Mersereau) Oliver. He was an alumnus of UNB and was very involved with the campus/community radio station CHSR. Bruce worked for over twenty years for the Department of Social Development as a Senior Policy Analyst and was extremely proud of his work as a public servant. Bruce was a bit of a Renaissance man. He was a musician and artist, a passionate builder of synthesizers, wooden musical instruments, and space and aeronautical models. These pursuits earned him a wide and eclectic circle of friends who he treasured. He loved Cuba – especially its people - and his “happy place” was Cayo Largo, a place he visited 14 times and where he spent some of his happiest moments. Bruce is pre-deceased by his parents Steve and Ruth. He is survived by his loving and heartbroken wife Lisa Pardy, his brothers Brian (Maria), Michael (Sheila), Eric (Joanne), and Ian, his Godchildren Danielle and Stephen, and his other nieces and nephews Julia, Peter, Gabrielle, Celyn, Connell, and Jennifer, and great-niece Brianna, all of whom he loved very much. He is also survived by his two beloved cats Oolie and Panda. There will be a celebration of Bruce’s life at a time and place to be determined. Anyone wishing to memorialize Bruce until then may make a donation in his name to the Fredericton SPCA. Personal condolences may be offered through www.yorkfh.com
