Obituary of Hagen Traugott Karl von Maydell

On May 24, 2019, Hagen Traugott Karl von Maydell of Fredericton, NB, passed from this life into the next after an extended hospital stay. Karl was born in pre-war Germany, May 23, 1936. Karl and his family immigrated from Germany to Canada in January 1952. Karl joined the Canadian Forces in 1954. He started out in the infantry, then went into military music, and later entered the medical field. He retired from the forces in 1980. Karl loved music. He loved to play the harmonica for anyone who would listen. For several years during the summer months he could be found playing at the “Market” most every Saturday morning. Karl is predeceased by his parents Dr. Roland von Maydell and Ortrud von Maydell ( von Krueger). A special thanks to the Dr. Everett Chalmers Regional Hospital Nurses on 3E for their patience and care, and to Karl’s neighbour and friend, Wayne, for his long-term help. A memorial service will be held for Karl at Serenity Church, 260 Serenity Lane, Fredericton, NB, at 6:00 PM Sunday, June 9, 2019. Pastor Jeff Crabtree will be officiating.
