Obituary of Richard Lyons

The passing of Richard Lyons, husband of the late Patricia Lee Elizabeth (Curry) Lyons, of Carroll’s Crossing NB, occurred on Monday, May 20, 2019 at the Dr Everett Chalmers Regional Hospital in Fredericton, NB. Born in Bettsburg, NB on May 20, 1943, Richard was a son of the late Lloyd and Grace (Stewart) Lyons. Richard was a heavy equipment operator who was retired after 32 years at the J.D. Irving Woodlands Division. Richard is survived by his sons, John Lyons and Jason (Carlene) Lyons; grandchildren, Amber, Alexis, Benjamin, and Kassidy; sisters, Anna (George) Price, Mavis (Jerry) Munn, and brother Marven (Donna) Lyons. Richard was predeceased by his wife of 54 years, Patricia, and brothers Stephen and Harold. Richard loved the outdoors; camping, fishing, hunting and riding his ATV especially with his four grandchildren. In recent years, Richard spent his weekends at a speedway helping out with the family’s auto racing team. Visitation will be held Wednesday May 22, 2019 from 6-8 pm at Miramichi Valley Chapel, 7681 Route 8, New Bandon, NB. A Graveside Service will take place at St. John’s Anglican Cemetery, Carroll’s Crossing, NB at a later date. The family would like to thank Dr Gillis and the staff of 4NW as well as Dr Galvis and the staff of the Oncology unit at the DECRH for their care during Richard’s stays. In lieu of flowers, remembrances may be made to the Chalmers Regional Hospital Foundation (Oncology) or the Canadian Cancer Society.
