Obituary of Gordon Coburn

COBURN, GORDON M. It is with sadness that the family of Gordon Coburn of Fredericton announce his passing at Hospice House Fredericton on May 5, 2019. He was born at Harvey Station, NB on January 9, 1936, son of the late Robert and Margaret Isabelle “Belle” (Rutherford) Coburn. He was married to Carolyn (Cougle) Coburn for 60 years. Gordon worked for NBTel for 38 years. He was an active member of Nashwaaksis United Church. He was also involved in scouting, being a cub leader for many years. Carolyn and Gordon spent many happy summers at their summer place on Oromocto Lake. One of his joys was the many gatherings to celebrate different occasions. In addition to his wife, Carolyn, he is survived by his daughter, Debbie (Dwight) Francis; sons, Robert (Bernadette) and Stephen (Karen) Coburn; son-in-law, Ken Budaker; granddaughter, Amy Francis; grandsons, Justin (Chelsey MacKay) and Benjamin Budaker, Joshua, Wade and Chad Coburn; great-grandchildren, Trusdin, Claire, Emelia Larder (and their father Jeff), Jemma and Isabell Budaker; sisters-in-law, Della Coburn, Rosa Cougle and Pauline Martin; brother-in-law, Brian Cougle; cousin, Paul (Rose Marie) Patterson; several nieces and nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews. Besides his parents, Gordon was predeceased by his daughter, Terri Budaker; sister, Thelma (George) Henry; brothers, Milford (Myrtle) and Cecil Coburn; sister-in-law, Dawn Cougle; brothers-in-law, Mark and Barry Cougle. Visitation will take place at York Funeral Home, 302 Brookside Drive, Fredericton, on Tuesday May 7, 2019 from 6-9 pm. A Funeral Service will be held from Nashwaaksis United Church on Wednesday, May 8, 2019 at 2 pm with Rev. Priscilla Geisterfer officiating. Interment will be in Harvey Settlement Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, remembrances can be made to Hospice House Fredericton, Nashwaaksis United Church, Harvey Settlement Cemetery or a charity of the donor’s choice.
