Obituary of Douglas Seely
It is with sadness we announce the passing of Douglas H. “Doug” Seely of Fredericton, NB, husband of the late Yvette (Robichaud) Seely on Wednesday, May 1, 2019 at the Dr. Everett Chalmers Regional Hospital. Born on June 8, 1934 in Sussex, New Brunswick, he was the son of the late Harry and Ethel (Adair) Seely. Doug spent his career at the NB Department of Motor Vehicles, beginning as one of the “original six” driver examiners in New Brunswick, and retiring as Registrar of Motor Vehicles. He was a member of St. Theresa’s Parish and a Grand Knight of the Knights of Columbus for several years
Doug is survived by his children, Terry Seely (Bev), Carolyn Hoyt (Rod), Nita Seely (Paul Washburn) and Doug Seely (Frances) all of Fredericton, NB and Heather Bugden (Chris) of St. John’s, NL; eight grandchildren; seven great grandchildren; sister, Doreen Dunfield of Sussex, New Brunswick; several nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents and wife, Doug was predeceased by his first born son, Brucie Seely.
A Celebration of Life reception will take place at St. Theresa’s Parish on Monday, May 6, 2019 from 11am – 2 pm followed by a Memorial Mass at 2 pm with Father John Jennings as celebrant. Interment will take place in Immaculate Conception Church Cemetery, Rexton, New Brunswick on Tuesday, May 7, 2019 at 12 pm.
