Obituary of Heather Morley

Heather Ann Morley (67) passed away Monday, April 29th surrounded by friends and family at Hospice in Fredericton, NB. It was perfect. Heather was raised on the South Shore of Montreal, Quebec and moved with her family to British Columbia in 1969 where she lived and loved and worked for 35 years. Heather inherited an incredible work ethic from her parents. She owned and operated a successful boutique butcher shop in North Vancouver becoming an influential force in that community. In 1996, she met the love of her life, Heather and soon after, we came to the Maritimes. In Nova Scotia, we operated a small campground and canteen seasonally on the Bay of Fundy. She fulfilled a life-long dream of becoming a long-haul truck driver in 2007 – her version of Freedom 55. She’d always loved the road and traveling, visiting Puerto Vallarta, Mexico many times while she lived in the West. With Heather we travelled the back roads and beaches of North America where Heather, the elder, delighted in gathering shark’s teeth on the Gulf Coast of Florida. We made an extended European tour in 2004 to wander the canals of Venice and Amsterdam and of the Alps in Austria. Heather had been a strong athlete in high school. She had a large circle of dear friends here in NB and in BC and Nova Scotia. She was a trusted confidant and honoured friend. She was my love, my favourite and the wisest decision of my life. She didn’t get to enjoy all the benefits of being a military wife due to her illness, but support from the Joint Meteorological Centre at Base Gagetown made her last years comfortable and serene. A lifelong smoker, she had suffered a health crisis after one year of professional driving and was forced to end her working career. Heather is predeceased by her parents, Harold (2005) and Gladys (2015). She is survived by her wife, Heather (Oromocto), brothers Donald (Luce) St. Lazare, QC and David (Debbie) Birch Bay, WA, sisters Karen (Richard) Cottage Cove, NS and Surrey, BC, Sandra (John) Dartmouth, NS and Pam (Paul) Penticton, BC. Nieces and nephews – Sean and Kelly, Sheila, Sam and Peter and Krista and Katie. In-Laws: brothers Mark, Robert and Danforth and nephew Tim, sister Susan and Step mom Chris.
