Obituary of William Whitlock

The passing of William “Bill” Steven Whitlock of Fredericton, NB, husband of Jean (Howe) Whitlock occurred on Monday, April 22, 2019 at the Dr. Everett Chalmers Regional Hospital. Born on April 12, 1948 in Fredericton, NB, he was the son of the late Doug and Marjorie (Foster) Whitlock. Bill worked for the Province of New Brunswick. In addition to his wife, Bill is survived by his sons, Steven Whitlock (Julie) of Rusagonis, NB and Tim Whitlock (Anne-Marie) of Fredericton, NB; grandchildren, Erin and Jenna O’Shaughnessy; chosen grandchildren, James, Lindsay and Grace; sisters, Gloria Woolaver, Barb Miller (Ken), Linda Seeley (Dick) and Judy Preston and brother, Bob Whitlock (Simone) all of Fredericton, NB; mother-in-law, Eva Howe; sisters-in-law, Margaret Whitlock, Darlene Durling, and Cheryl Smith; several nieces and nephews; beloved fur babies, Molly, Jack, Zeke and Ty. Aside from his parents, he was predeceased by his brother, Cecil Whitlock; father-in-law, Bill Howe and brother in law, Stephen Smith. Bill's wife Jean was his forever love. They were married 47 years. His sons and their families were dearly loved and cherished. His happiest times were spent with his family. His fur babies made him smile and laugh out loud. He enjoyed his walks with Molly, Jack and Zeke and occasionally Rumour when she was visiting. Bill spent many times with extended family and friends, another joy in his life. Bill and his twin Bobby spent many hours together discussing and participating in the sport of harness racing. Winning or losing they didn't care, just enjoyed spending time together every Saturday afternoon at the club having fun with their friends. Bill and Jean travelled frequently with his brother Cecil and Margaret. Too many places to mention! Awesome memories for Jean and Margaret! For many years Bill bowled with the government bowling team and then enjoyed this activity with the senior league. He played a very active part, serving as vice-president for years as well as organizing special fun activities. Bill also played softball on the provincial league and then went on to coach hard ball for both his sons. Bill was loved by everyone he met. Christmas for Bill was a very special time of year. Julie and he would have a competition as to who would play Christmas music first or start the countdown to Christmas Day. The Whitlock Christmas Party was one of the things he looked forward to most. Yankee swap, potluck and awesome time with family. Christmas Eve was dear to him having family time and the addition of James, Lindsay, Grace, Jenna and Erin was the highlight of the celebrations. There will be a Celebration of Bill’s Life at the Fredericton Senior Centre, 112-114 Johnston Avenue, Fredericton, NB on Saturday, May 11, 2019 from 1-4 pm. Interment will take place at Pine Grove Cemetery, Burton, NB at a later date.
