Obituary of Douglas Carr

CARR, DOUGLAS ROBERT The passing of Douglas Robert Carr of St. Anne's Lodge, Fredericton, NB, husband of the late Noreen (Allen) Carr occurred on Friday, March 29, 2019 at the Dr. Everett Chalmers Regional Hospital. Born on February 15, 1931 in Saint John, NB., Doug was the last surviving child of the late Robert and Grace (Cameron) Carr. Doug was a member of the Morning Gate Church, he was also a member of the Miramichi Oriol Fishing Club, Seniors Woodworking and the Fredericton Carving Club. Doug spent his working career as a commercial printer with MacMillan Press in Saint John, NB, Capital Free Press in Fredericton, NB and Carrcraft Printers in Charters Settlement, NB Doug lived life to the fullest and always had a smile and conversation to share with anyone he met. He loved the outdoors and the natural beauties it had to offer. His fishing rod was always close at hand as soon as the leaves on the trees showed him it was time. He loved being on the water in any season. Doug enjoyed many summers on his motorcycle and most recently enjoyed the short road trips he took on his Spyder bike. Doug was a very talented wood carver, crafting pieces for family and friends. Doug is survived by his four sons, Gregory (Susan) Carr of Saint John, NB, Brian Carr of Saint John, NB, Keith (Wanda) Carr of Charters Settlement, NB and Peter (Dawn Mccumber) Carr of Clarendon, NB. "Papa" will be missed by his grandchildren, Eric, Adam, Sean and Drew Carr as well as his step grandchildren, Jason and Justin Murray. He was "Great Papa" to Violet and Audrey Carr as well as step great grandfather to Jordan and Maddison Murray In addition to his parents and wife, he was predeceased by his sisters, Eleanor McConkey and Bernice Carr. The family would like to extend a special thank you to his friends, Bertha Gallant and Marilyn and Roddy Wall for their caring attention throughout this past year. To Dr. Pond, Dr. Daigle, Extra Mural and the gifted staff of 3 East at the DECRH, a heartfelt thank you for your kindness and the gentle care you had shown to our "Papa" Visitation will take place at York Funeral Home, 302 Brookside Drive on Wednesday, April 3, 2019 from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 pm. A Memorial Service will be held at Morning Gate Church, 74 Morning Gate Drive, Fredericton, NB at 11 am on Thursday, April 4, 2019 with Rev. Deborah MacDonald officiating. Interment will take place at Ocean View Memorial Gardens, Saint John, NB at a later date. For those who wish, remembrances may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society.
