Irma was born August 19, 1921 in Fortune Bridge, PEI. She met her future husband while he was employed as the first Provincial Forester of PEI. Irma and Doug were married in Yarmouth, NS in 1941, afterward residing in the Fredericton area. They lived in Montreal while Doug was taking his MSc at McGill, returning to Fredericton on his appointment as Professor of Forestry at UNB. Following Doug’s death in 1971, Irma worked for the NB Department of Natural Resources. In retirement she was an avid reader, a prolific gardener, an accomplished wine maker, and a lover of cats and dogs, never being without one or more for companion. Her kindness and generosity of spirit were keenly felt by all who knew her.
The family would like to express our thanks to the staff of the York Care Centre for their kindness during our mother’s residence there. Funeral arrangements to follow. Personal condolences may be offered through www.yorkfh.com
