Obituary of Susan Comeau

It is with profound sadness that her family announces the unexpected passing of Susan (Thomas) Comeau of Kelly Creek, NB on Monday, March 4, 2019 at the Dr. Everett Chalmers Regional Hospital at the age of 65, following complications after surgery. Susan was the much-loved wife of Willard (Bill) Comeau and the daughter of Blaine and Idella (Miller) Thomas. In addition to her husband, Susan is survived by son, Sean (Colene Marie Ginther) of Airdrie, AB and daughter, Meaghan (Matthew Kelly) of Keswick Ridge, NB, and by her brothers, Robert (Joy) Thomas of Whites Cove, NB and Stephen (Susie) Thomas of Windsor, ON. Also survived by Bill’s sisters, Anne Bujold, Vera Wilson, Lois Marshall and brother, Doug Comeau. As well, she is survived by her grandchildren, Brayden, Mary, Logan and Addison Comeau, and by her step-grandchildren, Kaine and Shianne Kelly. She also leaves behind many much-loved nieces, nephews and cousins. Susan was predeceased by her parents, Blaine and Idella Thomas, her parents-in-law, Charles and Leona Comeau. Susan was born and raised in Fredericton and moved to Bathurst after meeting the love of her life Bill. Susan and Bill worked several years together in Bathurst, prior to relocating to Fredericton to join Susan’s father’s agency, Blaine Thomas Travel, in downtown Fredericton. Susan would be well-known by many in Fredericton as she and Bill worked for more than 30 years for the Agency, in later years, they took over the ownership of the Agency when Blaine retired. Susan’s attributes went far beyond her work in the travel industry. She was the consummate homemaker who was an amazing cook and gardener, preserving many of the fruits and vegetables from her garden, and tending to a lovely array of flowers and plants around their property in Kelly Creek. Susan and Bill travelled extensively throughout Canada, United States and internationally. Following retirement, enjoyed many cross-country trips with their 5th wheel, most recent with their eldest grandson Brayden and step grand daughter Shianne. Bill will cherish those memories. Visitation will be held at York Funeral Home, 302 Brookside Drive on Saturday, March 16, 2019 from 2 to 4 pm. Interment will be at St. Stephen Rural Cemetery in the spring. Donations may be made in Susan’s memory to the IWK or to a charity of the donor’s choice. Personal condolences may be offered through www.yorkfh.com
