Obituary of Paul Sutherland

The passing of Paul Leo Henry Sutherland of Fredericton, New Brunswick husband of Mary (Connors) Sutherland occurred on Saturday, March 2, 2019 after a long battle with Parkinson’s at the York Care Center. Paul was born November 24, 1936 in Blissfield and was the son of the late George Sutherland and Janet (Brennan) Colford. In addition to his loving wife of 59 years, Paul is survived by his sons, David (Kelly) and Darren (Joanne) both of Fredericton, his grandchildren who he adored, Sara (Lloyd) of Geary and Allen (Sage) of Fredericton, his step grandchildren Jessica Woods (Tim) of Upper Gagetown, NB, Aaron Hargreaves (Katlyn) of Radisson, SK, his great-grandchildren Emma, Cohen and Anna, step grandchildren Ella and Eli, siblings, Margaret Hersey of Nashwaak Villa, Ben (Leona) Sutherland of Blissfield, Gladys Washburn of Renous, Mary McAloon Jones of Nashwaak Village and Gene (Elaine) Colford of Doaktown as well as several nieces and nephews. Paul was predeceased by his parents, brothers Peter and Jim Sutherland, Sherman Colford and daughter-in-law Anna Sutherland. Paul was a long-time active member of St. Anthony’s Catholic Church. Throughout his work-life Paul had worked for Rideout Transfer, Maritime Beverage (Pepsi), and Boyd’s Vending Ltd. Paul enjoyed time in their backyard gazebo, day trips with Mary, walking the trails in Devon, spending time with his grandkids and volunteering with the boys at the cemetery. Special thanks to the incredible staff at York Care Center for taking such good care of Paul. Visitation will take place on Wednesday, March 06, 2019 from 1 to 3 and 6 to 8 pm at York Funeral Home, 302 Brookside Dr. Fredericton, NB. A Funeral Mass will take place at St. Anthony’s Roman Catholic Church on Thursday, March 07, 2019 at 11 am with Father Martin Arputham. Donations can be made to the Parkinson’s Foundation, St. Anthony’s Cemetery Fund or charity of the donor’s choice. Personal condolences may be offered through www.yorkfh.com
