Obituary of Katherine Atkinson

The passing of Katherine “Kathy” Eileen Atkinson of Beaver Dam, NB wife of William “Grumpy” Atkinson occurred on Tuesday, February 26, 2019 at home. Born on April 1, 1951 in Sussex, NB, she was the daughter of the late Stewart and Eileen (Hawkes) Mills. Prior to her retirement, Kathy was a Social Worker with the Province of New Brunswick. In addition to her husband, Kathy is survived by her children, Katilyn Matthews (Mike) of Spruce Grove, AB, Mark Douthwright (Lorrie) of Ottawa, Peter Douthwright (Heather) of New Glasgow, NS, and Matthew Douthwright (Natasha) of Fredericton, NB; grandchildren, Haydon, Madaline, Kelsey, Avery, Zoey and Sydney Douthwright, Jaxon and Karly Matthews; sisters, Jeanie Reicker (Douglas) of Sussex Corner, NB, Marilyn Boulter (Ronald) of Fredericton, NB and Susan Young (Kenneth) of Sussex, NB; brother, David Mills of Saint John, NB; and several nieces and nephews. There will be a Memorial Service at York Funeral Home’s T. Gordon MacLeod Memorial Chapel on Saturday, March 2, 2019 at 2 pm with Rev. Kenneth Young officiating.
