Obituary of Marguerite Glenn-Barton
A life well lived – A woman well loved.
Mom got away on February 16th and getting away was how Mom referred to dying; getting away on your last earthy adventure. Mom was the last of her family and she now joins her infant son George, our father Ora and step-father Ken Barton. Her siblings were brothers Ralph, Curtis, Don and Merton and sisters Caroline and Doreen.
Mom, together with our father, raised four daughters in a tiny home that burst at the seams with love and laughter. 10 years after our father died, Mom had yet another adventure when she met our step-father Ken. She was truly swept off her feet for the second time in her life and she eloped at the tender age of 73.
Shortly before Mom got way she said “I have been so blessed and I have no regrets at all”. Not many of us will be able to leave this world so at peace. Her two families will mourn the loss of their matriarch; Jayne (Ken Sloat) Janice (Rod Ross) Jill and Jennifer (Joe Verville), together with her grandchildren Courtney and Carolyn Mills (Matt Moak), Max and Connor Ross, Benjamin and Katherine Verville, Dane Hall and great granddaughter Elaina MacNeill and her father Jon MacNeil, will celebrate Mom and her legacy. Her Barton step-children Jill and Rick MacPhee, Brad and Sharon, Todd and Joley and grandchildren Eric, Becky, Mackenzie and Kennedy will remember Mom with nothing but love. Her nieces and nephews, whom mom loved unconditionally, will miss her wit and wisdom.
We thank Bayshore and their employees Cindy and Ruth Ann who were so very kind to Mom. Hospice House was the perfect setting for all of us to say goodbye to Mom. We will be forever grateful to the staff there and as one nurse said “we love your mother, she is so sassy and fun”. Sassy and fun. Who wouldn’t love a woman like that.
In lieu of flowers the family would request donations to Trinity United Church in Minto or Hospice House in Fredericton. Visitation will be held Saturday the 23rd at Trinity United Church in Minto 11-1 Celebration of Life at 4:00 Trinity United Church with reception to follow.
