Life Legacy
The passing of Jane Letitia Robinson of Fredericton, NB occurred on Wednesday, February 13, 2019 at the Dr. Everett Chalmers Regional Hospital. Born on June 19, 1930 in Saint John, NB, she was the daughter of the late Arthur and Florence (Simmons) Robinson. Jane graduated from Saint John High School with a Matriculation Certificate; she then went to Modern Business College and after graduating, she worked for NB Tel in the Directory Department. Jane furthered her education at the Saint John General Hospital School of Nursing and became a Registered Nurse; she worked as an assistant to the Head Nurse. She joined the Canadian Forces (Navy) and her postings included, HMCS Naden, Esquimalt, BC, CFB Calgary and NDMC Ottawa as the Head of Nursing in the Urology Department under Dr. J. Besley. Jane again furthered her education at the University of Ottawa and received her Certificate in Nursing Education. She then was posted to Kingston, ON as an Instructor to Medical Assistants and went on to Lhar, Germany, Halifax, NS and finally to the Oromocto Hospital Military Ward until she retired in 1983. She worked there part time after retirement as a Civilian RN. Jane enjoyed driving from coast to coast and all around the Maritimes and Quebec. Her cousin, Evelyn Jeffs from England was her frequent travel companion. Jane took many trips over the years to visit with Evelyn and friends in England and to see the countryside of Scotland, Wales and Europe. She was an adherent of Nashwaaksis Baptist Church, WMS, Seniors Monthly Groups and was a member of the Royal Canadian Legion Branch #4. Jane enjoyed listening to music and during her last residence at Paradise Villa, she attended many of the music programs and activities.
Jane is survived by her sister, Edith MacDonald (James); her sister-in-law, Ann Robinson; three nieces; five nephews, and her cousin, Evelyn Jeffs in England. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her sister, Mary Robinson (1935) and brother, Arthur Robinson (1995).
A Memorial Service will take place at York Funeral Home’s T. Gordon MacLeod Memorial Chapel on Sunday, February 17, 2019 at 2 pm with Rev. Paul Thompson officiating. A reception will follow in the Fireside Room. Interment will take place in Cedar Hill Extension Cemetery, Saint John, NB at a later date.
