It was with great sadness that I attended Doug's funeral today.
I knew him first as a colleague at work at PLNGS and then as a teacher and a friend.
Doug did everything he could to help people in their daily lives and jobs and will be most remembered for that and his laugh.
The world lost a great person in Doug Parker

Dear Susan and family. I am smiling as I remember Doug fondly. Shared some fun times with Doug and you Susan socially at PLGS events. Doug's personality never changed, as he worked his way up the work ladder. Always treated people the same.
A super nice guy, with an infectious laugh. RIP Doug. You will never be forgotten.

Susan, Jason, and Jamie,
I am very sorry for your loss and my sympathies to you all and your extended families.
Doug was a peer, mentor, and a leader that I really enjoyed working with. Particularly his no nonsense approach to the issues of the day, and not always the work related ones.
Like you, we will all miss his sense of humour and his counsel.
All the best to all of you during this difficult time.
Sincerely,
Brent Smith

Dear Susan,Jason and families,
Please accept our deepest condolences for your loss. Doug was one of my simulator instructors for the first Shift Supervisor program conducted on the full scope simulator at Point Lepreau. I have many fond memories of this program that was guided by Doug's knowledge and practical approach that was often mixed with his great sense of humor. We also remember Doug in his role of Station Manager which he always approached with a "it's never too late to do the right thing" attitude.
Our thoughts and prayers are with all of you at this difficult time.

Dear Susan and family,
Please accept my heartfelt sympathy for this great loss. Dougs departure has caused me to reflect on the many years gone by since our first connection in the early seventies. Although our working years together left many impressions of the technically capable Doug, I am especially reminded of the humouress, fun loving and good family man that he was. He had a beautiful human spirit. Pictures of those townhouses in Oshawa with the kids playing in the backyard are foremost in my mind although it was 40 years ago. It is hard to believe that those children are now much older than we were then.
I have lost many loved ones in the past and it has been my experience that time diminishes the pain and we are left with only the memories and the love. Especially the love . Take heart in knowing you will be together again someday.
My thoughts and prayers are with you.
Don
