Obituary of Philip Baird

The passing of Philip James “Newfy” Baird of Fredericton, NB occurred on Tuesday, January 22, 2019 at his home. Born on June 5, 1944 in St. John’s, NL, he was the son of the late Philip Sr. and Gertrude (Cox) Baird. Philip served in the Canadian Armed Forces Blackwatch Regiment. He was a Skydiving Instructor and Tandem Master, a job he loved that took him around the world skydiving and instructing, he also worked as a Bartender. Philip is survived by his partner, Julie McMullan; daughters, Stephanie Baird (Tim Shanks) of Fredericton, NB, Tamara Tracy (Todd) of Lincoln, NB and Katherine Baird (Edgar Polches) of Fredericton, NB; grandchildren, Grant Baird, Tim Plant, Justin Brooks, Leah Plant, Joshua Polches and Tiffanie Brown; eight great grandchildren and one great great grandchild. A Celebration of Life Service will take place at York Funeral Home’s T. Gordon MacLeod Memorial Chapel on Monday, January 28, 2019 at 11 am. For those who wish, remembrances may be made to the New Brunswick Lung Association
