Obituary of Anna Burtt
The passing of Anna Murray Burtt of Fredericton, NB, wife of the late Ashley Burtt occurred on Thursday, January 10, 2019 at Oromocto Public Hospital. Born on July 2, 1921 in Upper Gagetown, NB, she was the daughter of the late George and Jessie (Simms) Estabrooks. A quiet and gentle soul, Anna loved children, and before she was married taught school near her home in the Gagetown area. She also worked at Creaghan’s Department Store and as a clerk for the Federal Government. She took great interest in her extended family, was active in her church, and lived a gracious life delighting in trips with her husband, Ashley; beautiful flowers, and a hot cup of Red Rose tea served in a china cup. A spotless housekeeper, she enjoyed reading, crafts, and playing the organ.
Anna is survived by several nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents and husband, she was predeceased by her sisters, Caroline Weddell, Flora Duke, Eleanor Duke, Jean Robinson and brother, Lloyd Hoben.
A Memorial Service will take place at St. John the Evangelist Anglican Church on Monday, January 14, 2019 at 11 am with Rev. Paul Ranson and Pastor Graham Crandall officiating. Interment will take place at St. John the Evangelist Anglican Cemetery at later date. For those who wish, remembrances may be made to the St. John the Evangelist Anglican – Building Fund.
