Celebration of Life Wednesday, June 26, 2019 at 2 pm Taymouth United Church 821 Pleasant Valley Road, Route 148, Taymouth, NB Reception at the Taymouth Community Centre 860 Pleasant Valley Road, Route 148, Taymouth, NB Burial to follow at the Red Bank Cemetery, Red Bank, NB The passing of Irene Evelyn (Ascah, Squires) Hunter, wife of the late Gerald L. Hunter, occurred on Saturday, December 22, 2018 at Hospice Fredericton. Born on November 05, 1922 in Gaspe, QC she was the daughter of the late Angus and Lillian (Patterson) Ascah. She was affiliated with the Church of England. Irene enjoyed knitting, reading and was a known card shark. She was very dedicated to her family. Irene is survived by her son, Terrance Squires (Heather) of Ontario; daughters, Margaret “Peggy” Burke (James) of Halifax, NS and Geraldine Hunter Evans (Daniel) of Zionville, NB; grandchildren, Laura Hennigar (Colin), Cara Greathouse (Eric), Lars-Erik Forsberg (Erica), Kristina Tardif and Steven Forsberg; great grandchildren, Aidan, Keira, Camden, Tessa, Hunter, Xavier, Erik and Leif; honorary grands, Grant and Alex Evans, Pam Evans Little (Dan) their children, Leaf, Blossom and Sage; sister, Marjorie Ricketts; several nieces and nephews. Besides her husband and parents, Irene was predeceased by her brother, Gordon Ascah; sister Cynthia Ricketts; brothers-in-law, Albert and Ernest Ricketts. Visitation will take place at York Funeral Home, 302 Brookside Dr. Fredericton, NB on Thursday, December 27, 2018 from 1 to 3 pm. A Memorial Service will take place at the Taymouth United Church with Rev. Dr. Yvette Swan at a later date.
