Obituary of Merlin Doak

The passing of Merlin Ivan Doak of Fredericton, NB, husband of the late Elaine (Farrell) Doak occurred on Tuesday, November 27, 2018 at Hospice House Fredericton. Born on April 23, 1935 in Doaktown, NB, he was the son of the late Roy and Mabel (Ballard) Doak. Merlin was a member of Marysville United Church. He worked as a meat cutter and supervisor at Chippins Meat Factory and retired as a school bus driver. Merlin loved everything outdoors, hunting, fishing and training his bird dogs for competition. Merlin is survived by his daughter, Doreen Mills (Dale) of Kingsclear, NB; grandchildren, Ashley Mills (Dathan McLean) and Jessica Mills (Mike Dawe); sister, Mavis Kennedy (Rick) of Oromocto, NB; brothers, Norman Doak of Doaktown, NB and Harlan Doak of Oromocto, NB; several nieces and nephews; grand pups, Bella and Hank. In addition to his parents and wife, he was predeceased by his brother, John “Jackie” Doak. The family would like to thank the staff of Hospice House Fredericton for the exceptional care they have provided. There will be no services by Merlin’s request. A Graveside Service will take place in Alexander Gibson Memorial Cemetery in the spring. For those who wish, remembrances can be made to Hospice House Fredericton.
