Obituary of George Betts

The passing of George Henry Betts of Storeytown, NB, occurred on Monday, November 19, 2018 at the Dr. Everett Chalmers Regional Hospital. Born on July 4, 1940 in Storeytown, NB, he was the son of the late Holland and Mary Jane (Storey) Betts. George was a fishing guide and woods worker. He was a member of the Royal Canadian Legion Branch #23. He enjoyed playing darts and spending time in the outdoors hunting and fishing. George is survived by his son, Galen Betts (Shirley) of Blackville, NB; grandchildren, Jayden and Madison; sisters, Carol Miller (Don) of Fredericton, NB, Vera Long of Storeytown, NB and Iona O’Donnell of New Bandon, NB; close friends Lorie Munn of Parker’s Ridge, NB and Jim Fair of Shelton, Connecticut; several nieces and nephews. Also survived by Aunt and Uncle, Etta and Earl Bruce and Aunt Mary O'Donnell. Also survived by his beloved pet cat, Smokey. George was predeceased by his special friend Emma Munn. We would like to thank his very caring Doctors Hayder and Hadley and the wonderful nurses on 4SE. Funeral Service will be held from the Doaktown United Baptist Church on Friday, November 23, 2018 at 2 pm with Rev. Gary Countway officiating, reception will follow in the church basement. Interment will be at the Doaktown United Baptist Church Cemetery, at a later date. For those who wish, remembrances may be made to a charity of the donor's choice.
