Obituary of William Carlisle

CARLISLE, WILLIAM “BILL” EDWARD With saddened hearts the family of William “Bill” Edward Carlisle of Burtts Corner, NB, husband of Josephine (Bird) Carlisle, announces his sudden passing on Wednesday, October 31, 2018. Born on March 18, 1937 in Fredericton, NB, he was the son of the late Charles and Dorothy (Hanson) Carlisle. He graduated from Sackville High School and attended Mount Allison University. Bill worked as an Engineering Technician with the NB Department of Transportation; he previously worked with NB Power. He was an elder of the Keswick Ridge United Church; member of the Orange Lodge of NB and was a Past Provincial Grand Master of the Orange Lodge and Black Knights; he was also a Past Cub Master with the Boy Scouts, and a Keswick Valley Recreation Council Member. Bill was dedicated to his family, his friends, his community and his church. In addition to his wife of 52 years, Bill is survived by his sons, Derek Carlisle of Fredericton, NB and Scott Carlisle (Sheila) of Hanwell, NB; grandchildren, Sean Carlisle and Jack Carlisle; sisters, Joan Carlisle-Irving of Vancouver, BC, Margaret Carlisle of Moncton, NB and Jane Carlisle of Sackville, NB; brothers, Gordon Carlisle (Angela) and John Carlisle (Judy) both of Sackville, NB; uncle, James Carlisle of Fredericton, NB; nieces and nephews, Darren, Todd and Corey Bird, Ian, Robyn, Emily and Cole Merrithew, Kathy Carlisle and several others; as well as cousins and members of the Bird family. Besides his parents, he was predeceased by his brother, Robert Carlisle. Visitation will take place at York Funeral Home, 302 Brookside Drive on Sunday, November 4, 2018 from 2-4 and 7-9 pm. A Memorial Service will take place at Keswick Ridge United Church on Monday, November 5, 2018 at 1 pm with Rev. A. David Luker officiating. Interment will take place in Burtts Corner Community Cemetery. For those who wish, remembrances may be made to the Burtts Corner Community Cemetery; Keswick Ridge United Church Local Fund or the Derek Carlisle Bursary at UNB.
