Life Legacy
The passing of Edith Araminta Gallagher of Fredericton, NB occurred on Sunday, September 30, 2018 at the Dr. Everett Chalmers Regional Hospital. Born on June 29, 1932 in the Mouth of Keswick, NB, she was the daughter of the late Elwood and Hazel (Nicholson) Hawkins. Edith was a member of Douglas Baptist Church and spent many years playing the organ and singing in the choir. She enjoyed spending time with family and friends. Edith loved playing cribbage, going to country jamborees and at 85 still loved to dance.
Edith is survived by her daughter, Diana Manuel (Stephen); sons, Terry Gallagher (Pam) and Carter Gallagher (Charlotte Neilson); eight grandchildren; twenty two great grandchildren; eight great great grandchildren; sister, June Brewer; sister in law, Barbara Hawkins; several nieces and nephews, and friends, Brent and Annette Springer. In addition to her parents and special friend, Burt Springer, Edith was predeceased by her grandsons, Patrick Gallagher, Carter Gallagher Jr. and Roy Gallagher; son-in-law, Gordon Aitken; sister, Alice Moore; brother, Jimmy Hawkins; foster brother, Michael Stairs; brothers in law, Mike Brewer, Ib Jensen and John Moore.
Visitation will take place at York Funeral Home’s T. Gordon MacLeod Memorial Chapel on Thursday, October 4, 2018 from 11-2 pm followed by a Memorial Service at 2 pm with Pastor Carl Brewer officiating and Rev. Ryan Farrell assisting. Interment will take place in Keswick Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, remembrances may be made to the Keswick Cemetery or the charity of the donor’s choice.
