Life Legacy
The passing of Hedley Sterling Cowie of Nashwaak Bridge, NB, husband of Edith Irving occurred on Sunday, September 23, 2018 at the Dr. Everett Chalmers Regional Hospital. Born on November 16, 1936 in McGivney Junction, NB, he was the son of the late Sterling and G. Irene (Astle) Cowie. Hedley was a Production Foreman with Scott Paper. He was a member of the Royal Canadian Legion Branch #80, Nashwaak Bridge. Hedley enjoyed playing cards and darts; he also liked to do woodworking.
In addition to his wife, Hedley is survived by his sons, Ricky Cowie (Susan), Troy Cowie (Connie) and Adam Cowie (Crystal); step daughter, Cheryl Irving; grandchildren, Ashley, Meghan, Morgan, Jarod, Jamie, Brenden, Rayna, Lucas and Andrew; eight great grandchildren; sisters, Gladys Munn (Laurie) and Rena Neales (Richard); sisters in law, Donna Cowie and Leona Furlotte (Eugene); several nieces and nephews; special friends, Ron Paquette and Phalen Cotter. Besides his parents, he was predeceased by his sisters, Barbara Munn (Clarence) and Joan Peterson (Reginald); brothers, Ross and Neil Cowie.
Visitation will take place at York Funeral Home’s T. Gordon MacLeod Memorial Chapel on Friday, September 28, 2018 from 12-2 pm followed by a Memorial Service at 2 pm with Rev. Paul Thompson officiating. Interment will take place in Astle Community Cemetery. Members of the Royal Canadian Legion Branch #80 are asked to assemble at the Nashwaak Bridge Legion for a Tribute Service at 4:30 pm with a reception to follow.
