Obituary of Patricia Ames

Patricia "Pat" Louise (Holyoke) Ames November 8, 1941- August 23, 2018 As her family we were blessed to learn many valuable lessons from Pat (whether solicited or not). Among them: - how to drive a snowmobile (she taught her sister yet forgot to tell her there were brakes) - how to sew, then had to give us all seam rippers for Christmas - voting was MANDATORY NOT OPTIONAL! (unless of course, if you were voting Liberal) - she taught her children and grandchildren that her secret to a long happy marriage was "Bean Night and 'maybe' " (and...have you seen the size of this family!) - she taught us that we can do anything, and then got stuck helping us do everything we tried. - she taught us about hard work, and no one ever worked harder - she taught us about love and was ready and willing to help everyone in the family and the neighbourhood when they needed her - she taught us to be wise with our money and she gleefully shared with us that she was enjoying spending our inheritance Pat, Mom, Gram, GG worked incredibly hard, helped everyone, and always had the answers to our questions. Whether it was showing family members how to bake bread, flying to Europe to help a grandson and his wife with their first baby, or making quilts for everyone. Even when she slowed down she worked harder then the rest of us. She loved quilting, knitting, crocheting, bingo, games, travel, painting and politics. She truly exemplified living life to the fullest. Pat will be greatly missed by her family. Husband Ronald Ames, sons J. Richard Ames (Tammy) and Arthur R. Ames (Kathy) and daughter Catherine D. Lawrence (Beverly). Grandchildren Levi Lawrence (Kim), Travis Lawrence, Josh Lawrence (Merrilee), Zak Lawrence (Sandra), Jeremy Ames, Noah Ames and Kennedy Ames. Great grandchildren Oliver, Penny, Maggie, Lilly, and Gabriel. Baby sister Dianne R. Long (Gordon) of Moncton, brother-in-law Donald Ames and sisters-in-law Bev Holyoke and Marilyn Holyoke. She is also survived by daughter-by-choice Claire (Keith) Dunn in UK, and by her beloved dogs Jaz and Gus. Several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and friends. She was predeceased by her parents Bert and Louise (Blaney) Holyoke, and brothers Gordon and Lawrence "Larry" Holyoke.
