Obituary of Margaret Hawkes

The passing of Margaret Audrey Hawkes of Fredericton, NB, wife of the late Joe J.A. Hawkes occurred on Thursday, August 2, 2018 at York Care Centre. Born of April 30, 1918 in Devon, NB she was the daughter of the late Alexander and Hazel (Love) Burns. She was a member of Gibson Memorial United Church. Margaret enjoyed kitting, camping and helping out her grandchildren. Margaret is survived by her daughters, Margaret “Margie” Randall (Alden) and Jane Robertson (Gary); daughter in law, Ruth Hawkes; grandchildren, Tim Pond (Marlene), Ted Pond (Kathryn), Michael Hawkes (Krista), Mark Robertson (Nancy), Lynn Banks (Chris) and Barry Pond (Pat); great grandchildren, TJ (Melissa), Nicola (Brad), Mary Kate, Kelsey (Cyril), Joe (Missie), Maggie (Tim), Brianna, Molly and Tala; great great grandchildren, Hayden, Kylee, Caden, Taylor, Thomas and Alex. In addition to her parents and husband, she was predeceased by her son, Donnie Hawkes; grandson, Robert; great grandson Dexter; sister, Gyda Scott and brother, Jack Burns. A Memorial Service will take place at York Funeral Home’s T. Gordon MacLeod Memorial Chapel on Tuesday August 7, 2018 at 2 pm with Rev. Murray McFarlane officiating. Interment will take place in Sunny Bank Cemetery at a later date. For those who wish, remembrances may be made to the New Brunswick Heart and Stroke Foundation, Gibson Memorial United Church or the charity of the donor’s choice.
