Darrell Robichaud

Obituary of Darrell Robichaud

It is with great sadness that the family of Darrell Joseph Robichaud announces his passing after a lengthy illness, on Saturday, June 16, 2018, at the age of 77 years at the Wauklehegan Manor. Born on April 18, 1941 in Belle Neck, Yarmouth, NS he was the son of the late Melbourne and Dorothy (Dulong) Robichaud. Darrell will be remembered by his wife of 49 years, Marie (Amirault) and his children, Steven (Jennifer), Darren (Marilyn), David (Jessica) and Melissa Phillips (Kevin); brother, Ralph Robichaud; sister, Margaret d’Entremont (Gary); grandchildren, Ryan, Rachelle, Brianna, Jordan, Derek, Ashley, Curtis and Natasha; along with several nieces, nephews, and cousins. Besides his parents, Darrell was predeceased by his sisters, Geraldine and Eleanor. Darrell had a wonderful sense of humour and had the most infectious unique laugh. Darrell loved music. His first love was the fiddle, but he could also play the guitar and mandolin all of which were self taught. Darrell started working at Parts For Trucks back in 1964. Forty one years later he retired from a job that began as temporary employment to a fulfilling career that included opening and managing the first New Brunswick store. Darrell then took to the roads as the only sales representative for New Brunswick. Darrell was a man of many talents. Not only was Darrell a handyman and able to fix anything, but he managed to work a full time job while also building his first family home in his spare time. Because of Darrell’s giving nature he often helped neighbours, friends and family with their projects. Darrell was affiliated with Sts. John and Paul Parish in New Maryland which grew from being held in the community centre to its existing location. Darrell was involved with other parishioners in clearing the land for the future church. Darrell was also a 3rd degree Member of the Knights of Columbus. Funeral Mass will take place at Sainte-Anne des Pays-Bas, Fredericton, NB on Saturday, June 23, 2018 at 10:30 am with Father Shawn Daley as celebrant. Reception to follow. Interment will be in Ste. Anne du Ruisseau, NS at a later date. A special thank you is extended from the family to Wauklehegan Manor for their exceptional care over the last three years. Memorial donations may be made to Wauklehegan Manor or the Muscular Dystrophy Society, a charity that was near and dear to the family’s heart.
