I worked with Tim at Labatt for about 20 years. Every time I went to NB, Tim was always there to help. Pick me up, drive me to meetings, make sure I got home ok. One of the brightest stars. All the fun days we had, and all the characters he introduced me to will never be forgotten. We sure lost a good one.
My deepest condolences to his family. I know he will be deeply missed.
RIP Tim

Ron and Robin Landrus, Toledo, Ohio posted a condolence
Saturday, June 16, 2018
I ever so briefly hung out with Timmy at the pond hockey in Plaster Rock. I brought my boy and his friends all the way from Toledo, Ohio and I felt he had to be an ambassador for New Brunswick, he had an amazingly huge smile and was over the top friendly. And even when the boys could not make it with me to pond hockey and I wanted to bring my wife along he made sure that me and her were welcomed and had what we need to have a good time, tons and tons of laughs with one or two rum with cokes. I'm pretty sure he may have mentioned I had to bring Robin or I may not be allowed back. I don't remember.
Timmy would talk baseball and I'm pretty sure he would talk in baseball coach hand signals, I never figured out though what he meant if it was time to steal home plate or we were running low on rum. Maybe it was just Timmie speak for glad your here bud.
I got to meet Maggie, she was in Toledo with her boyfriend playing for the local team. She was definitely a fine young woman, Timmy did one hell of a job.
I wish I would have made the trip to Fredericton to have the full Timmy experience, the man had so much energy and I'm real sure I have never laughed so hard in my life. He was kind and sharing, once at the tourney in plaster rock it was time for one of our games and he let me borrow one of his gigantic Ford pickups to take and drive right to the rink on the pond when clearly they did not want you to drive out there, he told me if you get stopped just say your delivering pucks to Danny. Apparently MacTavish sporting goods have VIP status. Sure was nice to have your gear in a warm truck just feet from the rink.
My sympathy to all, Timmy will always be in the hall of fame of pond hockey and I'm glad to say I was given the gift of meeting Tim.

I was broken hearted to hear of Tim's passing. I remember him always making me smile with his stories and anecdotes. If you judge your life by laughter, the number of friends you have made, and lives touched, then Tim's life was genuinely remarkable. When talking to Tim, he always gave you his undivided attention and made you feel important. I would like to offer my prayers and condolences to the MacTavish family during this sad and challenging time. To myself, and many others, he will always be remembered as a person who was larger than life and will be truly missed.

Having lived and worked in Windsor, Ontario for almost thirty years now, it goes without say that Tim and I have seldom crossed paths in recent years. I grew up playing hockey and baseball in Oromocto knowing Tim and his contemporaries as our nemeses (grudgingly respected) from Fredericton, be it winter or summer. Then it was on to OHS and the middle of those often fractious hockey rivalries. It wasn't until after I graduated, got into the broadcasting business, and began working as a sportscaster at CIHI that I really got to meet Tim and know him somewhat. What was abundantly clear to me was that this was fine human being. I could go on with several anecdotes, but there is one in particular I want to share. In the fall of 1984 I was offered a job with CBC Radio in Saint John. Having grown up in Oromocto, with all of our preconceived notions of Saint John, I was reluctant to even consider it. At the time Tim was working for Labatt's in Saint John, and if memory serves, had not been there long. I reached out to him to ask about his experience there. He said "Hurry. Once you get here you won't want to leave." He nailed it. My wife and I spent four wonderful years in Saint John, and that led to a job and the wonderful life we've enjoyed here in Windsor, raising two daughters who've both become very successful. It seemed trivial at the time, but looking back on it, it was life changing. But then Tim changed a lot of lives. I was, quite frankly, heartbroken when I heard of his passing. Best wishes to all in this burdensome time. I'll remember the warmth and the laughter.

I was shocked and saddened to hear of Tim's sudden passing today. Always quick with a joke or a laugh, I looked forward to a visit with Tim whenever I was to Wood Motors. Our families have been close for two generations going back to Charlie, and there were plenty of stories that have been shared through the years. May God grant the MacTavish family peace and comfort in this very difficult time.

Kathy, Andy and Scott: So sorry to hear of Tim's passing. What great times we had when I "babysat" the MacTavish clan during my High School Years. Donnie was always the ring leader and Tim was right behind him. I was kept busy but you were all wonderful kids. My prayers to each of you with thoughts for his two daughters as well. Love...Kenny.
