Obituary of Jessie Saunders

It is with a sense of love and loss we announce the peaceful passing of Jessie Saunders wife of the late David Saunders on Tuesday, May 8, 2018, at the age of 98 in the Oromocto Public Hospital. Born on February 27, 1920, she was the daughter of the late Norman and Mabel (MacKinnon) Boulter. Jessie spent the entirety of her life nurturing those around her with love, faith and compassion. Jessie demonstrated her love to her family and friends in countless ways, and she will be sorely missed. Jessie’s strong faith in God sustained her and was the foundation of her life; praying diligently for her loved ones and regularly demonstrating the rich relationship she treasured with God. Jessie worked as a Communications Clerk at the Victoria Public Hospital and the Dr. Everett Chalmers Regional Hospital. She was a member of Crosspoint Church. Jessie is greatly loved by her daughters, Carole Brown (Kermit Smith) of Fredericton, NB and Marilyn Stackhouse (Ken) of Mission, BC; son, Dave Saunders (Anita) of Fredericton, NB; grandchildren, Michael (Angela), Keith, Tim (Tara) and Andy (Michelle) McCullough, Greg Moore (Melissa), Marcia Stackhouse, Leanne Hamilton (Mike), Ken Stackhouse (Laura), Katie Saunders-Stewart (Jarrett) and Travis Saunders (Daun); great grandchildren, Laura, Sarah, Scott, Conor, Liam, Leslie, India, Scarlett, Danny, Jessie, Jaida, Julia, Abram, Claire, Logan and Paavo; great great granddaughter, Ella; sister, Barbara Smith of Lincoln, NB; brothers, Hazen Boutler of Fredericton, NB, Harold Boutler (Joan) of Vernon, BC and Ken Boutler (Florence) of Fort Saskatchewan, AB; several nieces and nephews. Jessie was preceded in death by her parents and husband; her daughter, Ruth McCullough (Frank); sisters, Gertrude Canney, Greta Palmer, Doris Smith and Shirley Finnie; brothers, Gordon, Lloyd and Jimmy. Visitation will take place at York Funeral Home, 302 Brookside Drive on Friday, May 11, 2018 from 4-6 pm. A Funeral Service will take place in Crosspoint Church on Saturday, May 12, 2018 at 11 am with Rev. Mel Norton officiating. Interment will take place in Olivet Cemetery. If friends or family so desire, a gift in memory may be made to the Crosspoint Church or the charity of the donor’s choice. The family wish to express their gratitude to the nurses and staff of the DECRH and the OPH for their compassionate care given to Jessie. Personal condolences may be offered through www.yorkfh.com
