WEBSTER, JOYCE ARETA Surrounded by her family, the passing of Joyce Areta Webster occurred on Monday, May 7, 2018 at the Dr. Everett Chalmers Hospital. Born on April 5, 1926, she was the daughter of the late John and Amy Alberta (Monteith) Morris. Joyce grew up in Durham Bridge and attended Provincial Normal School. Her first school was in Nashwaak Bridge where she met and married WW2 returned veteran, Monty Webster. They settled in Nashwaak Bridge. Since 1990, Joyce lived in Fredericton. We were Mum’s greatest gift and she was ours. Her family was her world. She celebrated our birthdays, anniversaries and graduations, every milestone big and small, of her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. She cherished every gathering and how fortunate we were to have her actively with us until her 92nd year. Joyce lived a busy and productive life in her community as well. She never forgot the service of her family in two world wars and to honour their sacrifices she dedicated much of her time to the Royal Canadian Legion, Br #80, serving first in the Ladies Auxiliary, as President, and in the Legion in many capacities, also as President. She was awarded the Legion’s highest award for members, the Meritorious Service Medal, and the Palm Leaf to the MSM, for her dedication to the cause of veterans. Joyce is survived by her daughters, Sandra Estey of Durham Bridge, Judy Bartlett of Fredericton and Nancy (Kevin) Daley of Fredericton; and her companion of 29 years, Lester Fraser; her beloved grandchildren, David (Kaew) Estey of Bangkok, Thailand; Monty (Lya) Estey of Fredericton; Barry (Sheila) Bartlett, of Stanley; Tony (Tammy) Bartlett of Fredericton; Shawn Daley of Calgary, AB and Andrew (Laura) Daley of Hinton, AB; her great grandchildren, Catalia and Lily Estey of Bangkok, Thailand; twins Alicia and Jelita Estey of Fredericton; Blair and Abby Bartlett, Chase, Ashtyn and Haley Bartlett, Katelyn and Lauren Murdock; her sister, Ardean MacKinnon Hayward (George); sister in law, Jackie Webster both of Fredericton; her god daughter, Gail Fraser Owen; her many nieces and nephews, who were all so close to her heart. Joyce is also survived by Lester’s family, Sharon and Joe Kowalski, Jordan and Mitchell; Doug and Dianne Fraser, Erica, Brittany and Tyler; Greg and Malinda Fraser, Mark and Christina. In addition to her parents, Joyce was predeceased by her husband, Monty Webster; her son in law, Wayne Estey; grandson, Gregory Estey; brothers, Roy, Vernon and Alvin Morris, and sister, Mavis Morris Brewer. A Gathering of Friends and Family will take place at York Funeral Home, 302 Brookside Drive on Saturday, May 12, 2018 from 2-5 pm. Interment will take place in Nashwaak Bridge Cemetery at a later date. For those who wish to remember Mum in a tangible way, and in lieu of flowers, the family is requesting acts of kindness. If you have an elderly friend or neighbour, visit them. If your love of animals takes you to the SPCA, help or donate. If there is a family in need of support, lend a hand. If you wish to donate we suggest the Alzheimer Society or the Royal Canadian Legion Branch # 80, Nashwaak Bridge. If you can make a difference in someone’s life that is a great gift; that was Mum’s greatest gift. Personal condolences may be offered through www.yorkfh.com
