Life Legacy
The passing of Ellen Dawn Gilker of Boiestown, NB, wife of Brian Gilker occurred on Saturday, May 5, 2018 at the Dr. Everett Chalmers Regional Hospital. Born on December 8, 1943 in Holtville, NB, she was the daughter of the late Eldon and Isabelle (Norrad) Black. She was a retired teacher having taught at the Upper Miramichi Elementary School. Ellen was a member of the Boiestown United Church; she loved to sing, was a past member of the church choir and wrote many songs and poems. Ellen enjoyed gardening both flowers and plants.
In addition to her husband, Ellen is survived by her daughter, Melanie MacPhee (Matthew) of Winnipeg, MB; grandson, Colin MacPhee; sisters, Shirley Spencer (Merrill) of Taxis River, NB, Flossie Wilson and Zona Ross (Merle) both of Boiestown, NB; Ina Pond (Gregory) of Porter Cove, NB and Lana Munn (Dale) of Annapolis Royal, NS; brother, Manley Black (Norma) of Boiestown, NB; several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; grandson, Devin; sister, Phyllis Wilson; sister in law, Pat Burgess and brothers in law, John and Floyd Wilson.
A Memorial Service will take place at Miramichi Valley Chapel on Friday, May 11, 2018 at 11 am with Rev. Brian Curtis officiating. Interment will take place in Boiestown United Church Cemetery.
