Obituary of Darrell Smith

It is with sadness that we announce the passing of Darrell Blaine Smith on Saturday, May 5, 2018 at the Dr Everett Chalmers Regional Hospital. Born on March 14, 1943 in Ripples, NB, Darrell was the son of the late Albert and Inez (Colwell) Smith. Darrell worked for the City of Fredericton for 25 years, was affiliated with the Noonan United Pentecostal Church and was an active member of the Lions Club. Every Saturday he looked forward to spending time with his kids and grandkids. Darrell is survived by his children, Heather Smith (Johnney Lyons), Tammy Smith (Emmanuel Martin), Corey Smith (Jessie), beloved children of the late Elaine Smith; grandchildren, James (Nicole), Jordan (Chantal), Dylan, Kylie, Alley, Mason; siblings, Merlin Smith (Sylvia), Elaine Randall, Jimmy Smith; several nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, Darrell was predeceased by an infant sister, Gail Roberta. Visitation will take place at York Funeral Home, 302 Brookside Drive, Fredericton, NB on Tuesday, May 8, 2018 from 7-9 pm. A Funeral Service will take place from York Funeral Home’s T. Gordon MacLeod Memorial Chapel on Wednesday, May 9, 2018 at 2 pm with Rev. Bruce Arseneault officiating, followed by a reception at the Nashwaaksis Lions Club. Interment will take place in Ripples Community Cemetery, Ripples, NB. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Nashwaaksis Lions Club or to a charity of the donor’s choice.
