Obituary of William Donald Williams

It is with great sadness the family announces the peaceful passing of Donald Arthur Williams, which occurred at the Fredericton Veterans Health Unit on Thursday, April 26, 2018. Donald was born on March 5, 1932 in Saint John, NB, the son of the late Vera Murray and Thomas Williams. Donald joined the Canadian Armed Forces at an early age, he served in the Korean War; then served with the Peacekeeping Force in the Congo, Egypt, Cyprus and Germany, where he met his loving wife of 51 years, Renate. After 21 years of dedicated service with the Canadian Armed Forces, Don went to Ryerson Polytechnic and earned his Certificate in Canadian Public Health (Inspection), he then transitioned to his new career as Hygiene and Public Health Inspector. His generous and helpful nature will be greatly missed by numerous friends and family members, especially in Moncton where he resided for over 30 years. Donald is survived by his daughters, Stephanie Coffin (Dave), Erika Williams and Christine Williams (Bill Laurence); grandchildren, Eric Coffin (Andrea) and Alex (Hope) Coffin, and Evan Laurence; great grandchildren, Gavin and Jenna; special friend, Marlene Ellis; also many extended family members. In addition to his parents and wife, Renate, he was predeceased by his sister, Patricia; brothers, Doug, William and Thomas, and his special cousin, Ervin Williams. In keeping with Don’s wishes, there will be no visitation or funeral service. The family will receive friends at Centennial Park Lodge, St. George Blvd., Moncton, NB on Saturday, May 26, 2018 from 12-3 pm. Special thanks for all the loving care provided to Donald by the nurses and staff of the Fredericton Veterans Health Unit. In lieu of flowers, remembrances may be made to the Kidney Foundation of Canada (Atlantic). Personal condolences may be offered through www.yorkfh.com
