Obituary of Elaine Smith
Life Legacy
It is with sadness that we announce the passing of Elaine (Beddow) Smith on Monday, April 23, 2018 at the Dr Everett Chalmers Regional Hospital. Born in Fredericton, Elaine was the daughter of Ruth (Titus) Beddow and the late Harry Beddow.
Besides her mother, Elaine is survived by the love of her life, Jim Smith, who cared for her and was always by her side. She is also survived by her children: Heather Smith (Johnney Lyons), Tammy Smith (Emmanuel Martin), Corey Smith (Jessie), their father Darrell Smith, as well as Jim’s children Vicki Coy (Dale), and Rick Smith (Shelley). Her siblings, Harry Beddow (Laura), Peter Beddow (Jackie), and Sherry Esford (Don), her brother-in-law Merlin Smith (Sylvia) and sister-in-law Elaine Randall. She leaves behind her grandchildren, who lovingly called her Mammy: James (Nicole), Jordan (Chantal), Dylan, Kylie, Alley, Mason, Zachary (Kara), Alyssa, Malcolm, Ethan, and Mikhailah, as well as several nieces and nephews.
Elaine was predeceased by her father, Harry Beddow, her brother Paul Beddow, and her parents-in-law Albert and Inez Smith.
She worked as an RNA at York Manor for 25 years. Elaine enjoyed sitting by the campfire at the lake, visiting Art and Shelley in Halifax, playing Yahtzee, and most of all spoiling her grandchildren. She was known to think of everyone else before herself and she enjoyed buying special gifts for her loved ones. There will be no funeral at the family’s request. Instead, a Celebration of Life will take place on Saturday, May 5, 2018 from 2-6 pm at the Kinsmen Centre at 141 School St. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Canadian Liver Foundation or to a charity of the donor’s choice. Personal condolences may be offered through www.yorkfh.com
