Obituary of Helen Dorcas

The passing of Helen May Dorcas of Burton, NB, wife of the late Eugene Dorcas occurred on Monday, April 16, 2018 at the Dr. Everett Chalmers Regional Hospital. Born on May 2, 1932 in Fredericton, NB, she was the daughter of the late Malcolm and Violet (Brewer) Evans. Helen was a Registered Nurse; she worked at the Victoria Public Hospital and the Chalmers Hospital for 40 years, prior to her retirement in 1998. She was an active member of the Gibson Memorial United Church; she had served as the Secretary of the UCW. Helen enjoyed watching sports, especially curling and was a Blue Jays Fan. Helen is survived by her daughters, Janet Haines and Anne Johnston (Cameron); grandchildren, Mary and Sarah Johnston, Blair and Bradley Haines; several nieces, nephews, brothers and sisters in laws and cousins. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her sister, Marjory Mowat and brother, Bruce Evans. Visitation will take place at York Funeral Home, 302 Brookside Drive on Wednesday, April 18, 2018 from 6-8 pm. A Memorial Service will take place at Gibson Memorial United Church on Thursday, April 19, 2018 at 2 pm with Rev. Kelly Higgins officiating. Interment will take place in Williamsburg Community Cemetery at a later date.
