Obituary of Priscilla Stairs

With heavy hearts, the family of Priscilla Jean Stairs of Fredericton, NB, wife of Howard Stairs, announce her passing on Monday, April 9, 2018 at the Dr. Everett Chalmers Regional Hospital. Born on January 16, 1938 in Temperance Vale, NB, she was the daughter of the late Abraham “Bud” and Dorothy (MacFarlane) Pickard. Priscilla was a member of Journey Wesleyan Church in Fredericton. She loved working with children. She was a Sunday school teacher, worked with CYC children, and was coordinator of the Wee Care Day Care, Woodstock Wesleyan Church. She also kept children in her home. She was a member of Y’s Menettes Club, Elm Tree Square Dancing Club, Good Sam and Mick Mack Trailer Clubs. She enjoyed travelling and spent many winters in Florida and Myrtle Beach. She loved trailering to many locations in NB, PEI, Maine, with her favourite spot being St. Andrews. Priscilla was also a member of Shawl Knitting Club at Journey Wesleyan Church. Her knitting needles and ball of yarn were constantly by her side. In addition to her husband of 60 years, Priscilla is survived by her daughters, Valerie MacPherson (Keith) of Murray Harbour, PEI, Angela Prime (John) of Nasonworth, NB and Heather Stairs of Lincoln, NB; son, Tim Stairs (Stacey) of Sussex, NB; grandchildren, Kathleen, Fraser and Karyn MacPherson, Craig (Milène) and Curtis Prime, Caleb Stairs, Laura, Daniel and Grace Stairs; several nieces and nephews. Priscilla was the last surviving member of her immediate family; she was preceded in death by her parents; sister, Elizabeth Ann Pickard and brother, Larry Pickard. Visitation will take place at York Funeral Home’s T. Gordon MacLeod Memorial Chapel on Friday, April 13, 2018 from 11am -1 pm; followed by the Memorial Service at 2 pm with Pastor Matthew Maxwell officiating. Interment will take place in Otis Cemetery, Nackawic, NB at a later date. For those who wish, remembrances may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society, Heart and Stroke Foundation of New Brunswick or the Otis Cemetery.
