Marjorie Baird

Obituary of Marjorie Baird

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our mother, Marjorie Baird, wife of the late Ronald E Baird. Marjorie was the daughter of Lloyd and Laura Wood of Harvey Station. Born July 17, 1929, Marjorie spent her early years in Harvey, moving to Fredericton to attend Business College. In Fredericton she met and married the love of her life, Ronald Baird. They were married for 58 years raising five children and a foster child. She spent many happy years with her children at their cottage at Grand Lake boating, swimming and picking blueberries. In later years the camp at Grand Lake was replaced by one at Harvey Lake where she reunited with friends and family. The focus of her life was raising her family and enjoying her grandchildren. Marjorie was an avid knitter supplying her family and friends with many sweaters, mittens, socks and afghans. She is survived by her son Gary (Marilyn), son Dennis (Katherine), daughter Wendy Hay (Bob), son Ronald and son Peter, all of Fredericton, ten grandchildren, several great-grand-children, sister Shirley Nason of Saint John, brother-in-law Dr. Kenneth Little Sr. of Nova Scotia and sister-in-law Patricia Wood of British Columbia, several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her parents, her husband Ronald, foster daughter Evelyn Casey, an infant granddaughter Melanie, sisters Eleanor Lyon, Frances Little and brother Murray Wood. The family is grateful to the doctors, nurses and support staff of 4 Northeast of the DECH for their kindness and care to our mother during her final days. By Marjorie’s request there will be no visitation or funeral. A private interment will follow at a later date. Donations in her name may be made to the donor’s choice.
