Obituary of Norma McGratton

The passing of Norma Darlene (Henderson) McGratton, of Fredericton, NB, formerly of St. Andrew’s, NB, occurred on Sunday, March 25, 2018 at the Dr. Everett Chalmers Regional Hospital. Born on August 8, 1926 in St. Andrews, NB, she was the daughter of the late Frank and Annie (Somers) Henderson. Norma worked as the Chief Telephone Operator in St. Andrews for the New Brunswick Telephone Company for many years and later in Head Office in Saint John and was a Telephone Pioneer. In her younger years she loved to curl, bowl, was an avid Bridge player her whole life. She loved to watch curling on TV, and was a past member of the Young at Heart and Willing Hands groups at Greenwood Drive Baptist Church. Norma is survived by her daughter, Pamela Ossinger (Phillip) of Fredericton, NB; grandsons, Stephen Ossinger (Lori) of Kingston, ON and David Ossinger (Nancy) of Glovertown, NL; great grandchildren, Jacob, Julia, Jackson, Grayson, Sam and Emma; brother, Douglas Henderson of St. Stephen, NB; sister-in-law, Sylvia Henderson of Dartmouth, NS and many nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, Norma was predeceased by her infant sister, Joan Henderson; her brothers, Keith and Gilbert Henderson and sisters-in-law, Sally and Bunny Henderson. Norma took great pride in her daughter, grandsons and great grandchildren and always looked forward to their company. A Memorial Service with visitation and reception after the service will be held from Greenwood Drive Baptist Church on Monday, April 2, 2018 at 2 pm with Rev. Gordon Cook officiating. Interment will take place at St. Andrews Rural Cemetery, St. Andrews, NB at a later date. For those who wish, remembrances may be made to the SPCA, Heart and Stroke Foundation of New Brunswick, Greenwood Drive Baptist Church .or the charity of the Donor’s choice would be appreciated by the family.
