Obituary of Joann Hetherington

The passing of Joann Marie (Rosborough) Hetherington of Fredericton, NB, wife of Gordon Hetherington, occurred on Sunday, March 18, 2018 at the Dr. Everett Chalmers Regional Hospital. Born on March 24, 1938 in Fredericton, NB, she was the daughter of the late Henry and Alda (Abernethy) Rosborough. Joann worked for the Department of Education until her sons were born, she then stayed at home with her boys, when they were older she was then employed for Land Registration and Information Service. She was a member of LOBA Star of the East #33 Orange Lodge, York Singers; she also enjoyed bowling, knitting, reading and Tuesday Ladies Group. In addition to her husband of fifty seven years, Gordon, she is survived by her two sons, Mike Hetherington of Fredericton, NB and Kevin Hetherington (Florence) of Rusagonis, NB; sister, Doreen Brown (Allison) of Gatineau, QC; several nieces and nephews. Besides her parents, she was predeceased by her brothers, Earl Rosborough (Jesse) of Bathurst, NB and Wendell “Tex” Rosborough (Marion) of Fredericton, NB. Visitation will take place at York Funeral Home, 302 Brookside Drive on Wednesday, March 21, 2018 from 2-4 and 7-9 pm. A Funeral Service will take place at St. Andrew’s Presbyterian Church on Thursday, March 22, 2018 at 2 pm with Rev. Wendy MacWilliams officiating. A reception will follow at the church. Interment will take place in Jemseg Cemetery at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the New Brunswick Kidney Foundation or the charity of the donor’s choice.
