Obituary of Muriel Phillips
The passing of Muriel Julia Phillips of Fredericton, NB, wife of the late Alton Phillips occurred on Wednesday, March 14, 2018 at York Care Centre. Born on September 16, 1918 in Upper Blackville, NB, she was the daughter of the late Alec and Ella Mae Arbeau. Muriel was a hairdresser. She was a member of Brunswick Street Baptist Church, when she lived on the south side and Nashwaaksis Baptist Church, when she moved to the north side of Fredericton. Muriel was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star, for more than 70 years, and a Past Member of Seniors Bowling, having bowled into her nineties. She enjoyed knitting, sewing and crocheting.
Muriel is survived by her daughters, Madeline Boies (Paul) of Fredericton, NB and Bonnie Mazerolle of Harvey, NB; grandchildren, Christopher Mazerolle, Michael Mazerolle (Jennifer) and Jason Boies; two great grandchildren, Noah and Matthew; sister, Alice Irving; several nieces and nephews. Besides her parents and husband, Muriel was predeceased by her son, Wayne Alton Phillips; infant sister, Ava; sister, Olive Hossack and brother, Hanford Arbeau.
An Order of the Eastern Star Service will take place at 1:45 pm on Saturday, May 5, 2018 at the Nashwaaksis Baptist Church with a Memorial Service to immediately follow at 2 pm with Rev. Dr. Paul Ross officiating. A Private Family Interment will take place in Fredericton Rural Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, remembrances may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation of New Brunswick or the Canadian Cancer Society. Personal condolences may be offered through www.yorkfh.com
