Obituary of Millard Jordan

The passing of Millard Storey Jordan, husband of the late Isabel (Burke) Jordan, occurred on March 5, 2018 at Nashwaak Villa. Born in Bear Island NB on March 25, 1925 to the late Roy and Laura (MacLean) Jordan, Millard was an apple farmer. He was a member of the NB Fruit Growers Association, Keswick Ridge Apple Co op, River Valley Fiddlers, and Carleton County Fiddlers and attended Mactaquac Baptist Church. He retired from UNB Security in 1986 and together with Isabel ran Jordan’s Apple Orchard in Bear Island for 45 years. He loved playing his violin and travelled regularly to their gatherings. He enjoyed being outdoors, and travelling anywhere, especially trips with Isabel in their camper and to Western Canada. Millard was known as a story teller with a remarkable memory and knowledge of local history, especially his family’s. Millard is survived by daughters Dale Sproull (Melbourne) of Fredericton, Elizabeth DesRoches (Joe) of Hawkshaw, Heather Jordan (Brian Brewer) of Douglas, son Robin Jordan (Jennifer Dixon) of Bear Island; five grandchildren and seven great grandchildren. Besides his parents and his wife, he was predeceased by brothers Aubrey, Olen and Avon and his faithful canine companion Barney. A Memorial Service will take place at York Funeral Home`s T. Gordon McLeod Memorial Chapel on Monday, March 12 at 2:00 PM with Rev. Peter Beckwith officiating. Reception to follow. Interment will take place at Bear Island Cemetery at a later date. The family expresses appreciation to the staff of Nashwaak Villa for the excellent care and friendship provided to our father.
