Obituary of Harold Pond

After a lengthy illness the passing of Harold Lester Pond of Fredericton, NB, husband of Florence (Hill) Pond occurred on Monday, February 26, 2018 at the Dr. Everett Chalmers Regional Hospital. Born on February 5, 1940 in Ludlow, NB, he was the son of the late Everett and Gertie (Hovey) Pond. He was a member of Nashwaaksis Baptist Church. Harold was a local business owner of Horsnell Bearing Service. He was a member of the Y’s Men’s Smokey Mokes. Harold enjoyed curling, snowmobiling, dancing, wood working, fishing, his Bolen’s tractor, and enjoyed his time at Davidson Lake. In addition to his wife, Harold is survived by his daughters, Heather Pond and Ruth LaPointe (Joel); son, Peter Pond; grandchildren, Cameron, Sadie and Emma McLelland, Faith, Emily and Adam Day and Hayden Pond; sisters, Marie Scott (Keith) and Doris Ward; sisters in law, Patricia Lenentine, Carmen Burns and Frances Foss; brothers in law, William Bate, Charles Foss (Duska), Malcolm Hill and David Hill (Barbara); several nieces, nephews and many special friends. Besides his parents, he was predeceased by his first wife, Joan (Foss) Pond; sister, Joyce Bate; brother, Amos Pond; sister in law, Sheila Hill; brothers in law, Robert Foss, Perley Ward, Allison Lenentine and Peter Burns. Visitation will take place at York Funeral Home, 302 Brookside Drive on Thursday, March 1, 2018 from 2-4 and 7-9 pm. A Funeral Service will take place at Nashwaaksis Baptist Church on Friday, March 2, 2018 at 2 pm with Rev. Paul Ross officiating. Interment will take place in Marne Cemetery at a later date. The family wish to extend a special thank you to the staff of the Palliative Care Unit at the Dr. Everett Chalmers Regional Hospital. For those who wish, remembrances may be made to the Nashwaaksis Baptist Church Building Fund or the Chalmers Foundation Palliative Care Unit.
