Obituary of Harry MacAllister

MacAllister, Harry Lincoln - On Saturday, January 13th, 2018, Harry Lincoln MacAllister left his earthly home, at the age of 86. He was the second-youngest (youngest boy) of eight children born to the late Eva and Myles MacAllister in Sillikers, NB on January 25, 1931. In 1956, he married his sweetheart, the late Jean (Mullin) MacAllister and together they raised three sons. He was an avid fisherman and hunter; he enjoyed fishing in the Miramichi and hunting in Maple Grove and on Miramichi Lake. His many fishing stories were a big part of his life, and he enjoyed sharing the hilarious hunting adventures. They were exciting for him to tell, and he was oblivious to the end results of the many excursions. The excitement was in the experience more than the “catch”. Harry also loved spending time with his family and friends. Harry’s life work was in many areas of construction, eventually owning his own general contracting business. Through this era of his life, Harry had many fond memories and successes, which led to a host of life-time acquaintances. Harry was predeceased by his wife, Jean and son, Myles; his parents; brothers, Gerald, Norman, and Ingram; sisters, Carmel, Molly, Glenna and Pearlene. He is survived by his sons, Murdock (Loretta) and Wayne (Karen); his special friend, Mary Evans; grandchildren, Terra and Jeff; three great grandchildren; sister, Melba Schofield; special nephew, Albro MacAllister; close friends, Jim Flynn and Rev. Ralph Irving; as well as many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. The special care and attention from York Care Centre Staff, during Harry’s stay as a resident, was outstanding, and will always be fondly remembered with sincere appreciation by the family. Remembrances in memory of Harry may include donations to the Miramichi Salmon Association, to your Local SPCA, or to a charity of the donor's choice. A Memorial Service will be held at York Funeral Home’s T. Gordon MacLeod Memorial Chapel on Wednesday, January 17, 2018 at 6:30 pm with Rev. Ralph Irving officiating. A graveside service and interment will be held later in the spring at the St Stephen’s United Church Cemetery, Red Bank. Personal condolences may be offered through www.yorkfh.com
