Life Legacy The passing of Derrick Trent Hoyt, 46, of Fredericton, NB occurred on Monday, January 8, 2018 at the Saint John Regional Hospital, surrounded by family and friends. Born on November 3, 1971 in Barker’s Point, NB, the son of Robert and the late Gertrude (Gosman) Hoyt. Derrick’s life would seem too short to many, but those who were touched by him understood that the quality of existence far exceeds the quantity of time in which one lives. His gentle smile, and humorous ways brought so much joy to his family and friends. His courageous attitude and determination to fight with all “hands on deck” gave us all hope and a silver lining that reminded us all of how precious life can be. He was an avid football player in his day and spent the later years in the woods as a hunter. However, his greatest joy in life was being a father to his of two lovely daughters, Jaida and Raven. Derrick is survived by his loving daughters, Jaida and Raven Hoyt and their mother, Traci Kingston of Fredericton; father, Robert Hoyt of Fredericton; sister, Debra Hoyt of Miramichi; brothers, Kelvin Hoyt (Andrea Miller) and Lee Hoyt both of Fredericton; five nieces and nephews.
