Obituary of Wesley Munn
With great sadness the family of the late Wesley James Munn would like to announce his passing at the Miramichi Veterans Home on Tuesday, January 2, 2018. Born in Hazelton, NB on July 25, 1916 to the late Duncan and Grace (Beek) Munn, Wes lived the majority of his life in Hazelton, NB. He was a member of Abundant Life Church, Doaktown, NB where he was an honorary board member. Wes joined the army in 1942 and served in England. He worked in the woods most of his life. In later years he drove school bus until he retired. Wes was a member of the Royal Canadian Legion, Doaktown Branch #23. He loved hunting and travelling.
In 1940 he married Mary Gertrude Munn of Hazelton, NB and they were together for 69 years. They devoted their time to their 16 children, 46 grandchildren, 67 great-grandchildren and 8 great-great-grandchildren.
Wes is survived by five daughters, Dorene Beek (Gordon), Christina Harris (Donnie), Nila Stewart (James), Gayle Munn (Lewis Brewer), Sheila Parker (Jim); ten sons, Duncan (Debbie), Everett (Jeanette), Eugene (Mabel), Fred (Dorothy), Ronnie, Percy (Cinda), John (Michelle), Ben (Darlene), Mike (Laura) and Mark (Stacey); sister, Rosella “Rae” Harris; brother, Hock Dobson; son-in law, Gerald Snow; numerous nieces, nephews and extended family. Besides his wife and parents, Wes was predeceased by daughter, Grace Snow; grandson, Ryan Munn; sisters, Marie Kelso, Phyllis Llewlyn, Nola Thompson, Christina Ballard, Nora “Node” Pratt, Juanita Carr and Mabel Parker; brothers, Reginald “Reg”, Nathanial and Milburn.
Visitation will take place at Abundant Life Church, Main Street, Doaktown, NB on Monday, January 8, 2018 from 2-4 and 7-9 pm. Members of the Royal Canadian Legion Branch #23 are asked to assemble for a Memorial Tribute at the church on Monday at 6:45 pm. A Funeral Service will be held from Abundant Life Church on Tuesday, January 9, 2018 at 2 pm with Pastor Ronald Carroll and Pastor Russell Morehouse officiating. Memorials may be made to the Chalmers Foundation (Neonatal Unit) or to a charity of the donor’s choice. Personal condolences may be offered through www.miramichivalleyfh.com
