Obituary of Barbara Jewett

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Barbara Ann Jewett of Fredericton, NB, wife of the late Lloyd Richard Jewett, on Sunday, December 17, 2017 at Hospice Fredericton. She was born in New Maryland, NB to the late Ralph J. Sinclair and M. Florence “Florry” (LeGassie) Kerton on June 2, 1938. Barb spent the majority of her career as an accountant for the Datsun dealership and later Southwood Automotive. She was a devoted wife and proud mother who loved spending time with family, especially her grandchildren. Barb was an avid lover of nature who enjoyed going for walks, tending to her flower beds, and, literally, “smelling the roses”. In recent years, she enjoyed starting her morning at the Regent Mall over a cup of coffee discussing the topic of the day with the “Coffee Crowd”. She was also a longstanding member of the St. Mary’s Anglican Parish. She is survived by her son, Brent Jewett (Pamela); daughter, Amy Wilcox (Andrew); four grandchildren, Alyssa, Jessica, Isaac and Rachel; two brothers, Lloyd Sinclair (Alice), George Sinclair (Mary); two sisters, Dawna Turnbull and Joan Roberts (Don); several nieces and nephews as well as many extended family members and friends. In addition to her parents and husband, Barb was predeceased by her step-father, Robert Kerton and brother-in-law, Robert J. Turnbull. Visitation will take place at York Funeral Home, 302 Brookside Drive, from 2-4 pm and 7-9 pm on Thursday, December 21, 2017. A Memorial Service will be held at St. Mary’s Anglican Parish, 780 McEvoy Street, Fredericton, NB on Friday, December 22, 2017 at 2 pm with Father Kevin M. Stockall officiating. For those who wish, donations may be made to Hospice Fredericton or the Canadian Cancer Society. Interment will take place at a later date at St. Mary’s Anglican Cemetery, Fredericton, NB.
