Obituary of Winniefred Gill

It is with great sadness and heavy hearts that the family of Winniefred “Winnie” Marie Gill announce her passing on Friday, December 1, 2017 at Nashwaak Villa in Stanley. Born in Tracadie Beach, NB on January 30, 1931, she was the oldest child of Richard and Imelda (Rousel) Richard. She was a long time resident of Claremont Drive in Fredericton. Winnie is survived by her son, Danny Gill (Nancy) of Red Rock, NB; daughter, Tina Gill-Leslie (Jim) of Grand Manan, NB; three grandchildren, who called her Mimi, Melanie, Jordan and Christopher; sister, Anne Marie Hovey (Clive); and several nieces and nephews. Besides her parents, she was predeceased by her husband of 41 years, Albert Edward Gill and her first born child, her son, Harold Edward Gill; five sisters, Mary DeGrasse, Gertrude Hickey, Edna Perault, Odette Richard, Patricia McSorley (John); two brothers, Eugene Richard and John Richard. The family would like to extend an enormous thank you to the staff of Nashwaak Villa in Stanley and Gagetown Special Care Home for the excellent care and compassion shown to mom. The family will receive visitors at York Funeral Home, 302 Brookside Drive, Fredericton, NB on Tuesday, December 5, 2017 from 6 to 8 pm. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated from St. Anthony’s Roman Catholic Church on Wednesday, December 6, 2017 at 11 am with Father Monte Peters as celebrant. Interment will take place in Douglas Rural Cemetery, Fredericton, NB. For those who wish, memorial tributes can be made to the Nashwaak Villa “Buy a Bus” campaign.
