Obituary of George Hawkins

The passing of George Edward Hawkins of Fredericton and formerly of Burtts Corner, NB, husband of Grace (Edmondson) Hawkins occurred on Sunday, November 26, 2017 at York Care Centre. Born on December 20, 1937 in Fredericton, NB, he was the son of the late Bedford and Rita (Stafford) Hawkins. George worked as a heavy equipment operator at Mactaquac Provincial Park. In addition to his wife, George is survived by his daughters, Ann Rediker (Bill) of Stewart, BC and Wendy Goodine (Shane) of Fredericton, NB; sons, Calvin Hawkins of Edmonton, AB and Terry Hawkins (Tracy LeBlanc) of Burtts Corner, NB; several grandchildren, great grandchildren and great great grandchildren; sisters, Barbara Ann Legacy (Ed) of Fredericton, NB and Janet Hawkins of Nackawic, NB; brother, Alton Hawkins (Betty) of Kansas City, KS; several nieces and nephews. Visitation will take place at York Funeral Home, 302 Brookside Drive on Tuesday, November 28 from 2-4 and 7-9 pm. A Memorial Service will take place at York Funeral Home’s T. Gordon MacLeod Memorial Chapel on Wednesday, November 29, 2017 at 2 pm with Rev. Debbie Edmondson officiating. Honourary Pallbearers for the service will be Shane Hawkins, Matthew Hawkins, Shane Goodine, Ed Lagacy, Phillip Edmondson and Brian Edmondson. Interment will take place in Burtts Corner Community Cemetery. For those who wish, remembrances may be made to the Crohn’s and Colitis Foundation, Fredericton SPCA or the News Brunswick Heart and Stroke Foundation.
